The Ministry of Economy has published a list of vehicles subject to taxation in Ukraine.

The Ministry of Economy recently published a list of vehicles that will be subject to transport tax in 2024. This comprehensive list includes 184 cars from such well-known brands as Aston Martin, Audi, Bentley, BMW, Cadillac, Jaguar, Land Rover, Lexus, Maserati, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Rivian and Tesla.  But what is transport tax and how does it function in the Ukrainian tax system? In essence, the transport tax functions as a property tax, reflecting the principle of real estate taxation, with the exception of land plots and land charges for apartments and garages.  Unlike other types of taxes, the amount of transport tax is fixed and amounts to 25,000 hryvnias per year for each taxable object, regardless of the market value of the vehicle. In addition, this tax is included in the local budget.  This tax can be paid by both individuals and legal entities, but the method of payment depends on the legal entity. Legal entities must independently calculate the amount of tax and pay it evenly throughout the year.  Aston Martin DBX  Individuals, on the other hand, receive a notice from the local tax inspectorate reminding them of the need to fulfill their tax obligations. Owners of expensive vehicles usually have to pay the full annual payment within two months of receiving the notice.  The method of calculating transport tax is closely related to the cost and year of production of the vehicle. Vehicles whose minimum value exceeds 375 euros are subject to taxation. The age of the vehicle is also an important factor, as some brands tax vehicles under five years old.  Porsche Taycan 4S.  In order to simplify the process for taxpayers and prevent confusion about tax liabilities, the government is responsible for defining tax liabilities. Every year, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade publishes a detailed list of makes and models of vehicles that are subject to taxation.  Such a proactive approach ensures transparency and clarity regarding the obligations of vehicle owners within the framework of the taxation regime. As the tax system changes, it is increasingly important for both individuals and legal entities to stay abreast of such updates in order to navigate the complex web of Ukraine's tax system.
