Toyota plans to produce an electric sports car FT-Se.

Toyota's latest project in the field of sports electric vehicles is embodied in the FT-Se (Future Toyota Sports electric) concept, which represents the brand's current research in the field of electric mobility. While the production status of this compact two-seater electric vehicle has yet to be confirmed, the concept represents Toyota's vision for the future of electric sports cars. The FT-Se is designed as a sleek, compact two-seater electric vehicle with an expressive silhouette that pays tribute to classic sports car aesthetics: its compact height of 1,220 mm exudes the essence of a classic sports car, while its overall width of 1,895 mm emphasizes its powerful and assertive stance. The design of the front part with its smooth curves and clear lines visually emphasizes the dynamism and maneuverability of the car. The 4,380 mm long profile is further accentuated by aerodynamic lines, trapezoidal shapes and a rear spoiler that add to its visual appeal. Toyota FT-Se Concept. Although Toyota has yet to reveal detailed specifications, it is already known that the FT-Se will be powered by a new generation of batteries with high energy density. This battery is expected to be thinner and more energy-intensive, and therefore lighter, than current electric vehicles. In addition, components such as the electric drive system, transmission and air conditioning have been reduced to improve traditional sports car qualities such as stable cornering, responsive steering and confident braking. The interior design of the FT-Se features a low-profile instrument panel for improved visibility. There are three screens in the cabin, two of which are located next to the steering wheel. Knee pads are strategically placed to protect the driver and passenger when cornering, emphasizing the car's sporty characteristics. Toyota FT-Se Concept. Details about the production plans for this electric sports car are still limited, but Toyota CEO Akio Toyoda has previously stated his personal involvement in the development of the brand's electric vehicles. CEO Akio Toyoda confirmed plans for a manual transmission with a clutch pedal, which would use software control of the electric drive system to simulate gear changes and create matching engine noise. However, series production of this model is still awaiting approval. Toyota continues to navigate the changing landscape of electric mobility by exploring the intersection of its sports car heritage and advanced electric technology.
